Beautiful Greek Island of Kos

A perfect time to travel to Greece is autumn. It is not too hot anymore and the high tourism season is usually over. Kos is very nice , rather small island and well developed touristically.

It is famous for its beaches and offers many historic landmarks that are a result of various cultures that influenced it throughout the years.

The biggest city on the island is Kos Town. Although much of the town’s original architecture was destroyed in various earthquakes, there are plenty of interesting sights such as ancient ruins and a picturesque old quarter.

From the small village of Zia located in the Dikeos Mountains you have a wonderful view of the entire island. The drive up there passes by some of the most beautiful spots. The quiet touristy villages has to offer nice churches and plenty of tourist shops and great taverns. Zia is also a famous destination for the amazing sunset views.

Another nice village of the island is Kefalos. It was the first capital of Kos and today it reaches a population of 2500 inhabitants. Its houses are built close to each other forming a labyrinth of narrow alleys which is typical for traditional Greek islands. On your way there you will also discover some of the best beaches of the whole island which attract many visitors with numerous tourist facilities and a nice environment to enjoy swimming and sunbathing.
